LPL 2024 Most Runs and Most Wickets after Jaffna Kings vs Kandy Falcons (Updated) ft. Fabian Allen and Kamindu Mendis

The second qualifier of the 2024 Lanka Premier League saw the Jaffna Kings take on the Kandy Falcons at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday, July 20.

The Kandy Falcons put the Jaffna Kings to bat first after winning the toss. Losing the toss was a blessing in disguise for Jaffna, as wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis scored a scintillating century. Mendis’ 54-ball 105* consisted of 12 boundaries and five sixes.

While Kusal Mendis gave a heroic start, Azmatullah Omarzai ensured a strong end to their innings, scoring a quickfire 13-ball 26, helping the Jaffna Kings post a total of 187/7 in 20 overs. Chaturanga de Silva, Muhammad Hasnain, and Ramesh Mendis picked up two wickets each for the Kandy Falcons.

Andre Fletcher (38 off 21) opened the innings for the Kandy Falcons, while Mohammed Haris (26 off 20) and Kamindu Mendis (32 off 23) batted at No. 3 and 4, respectively. The batters kept the Falcons on the hunt throughout the game. Ramesh Mendis (30 off 11) almost helped Kandy chase down their target but fell short of one run.

Fabian Allen (4/24) and Vijaykanth Viyaskanth (3/30) were the highest wicket-takers for the Jaffna Kings.

Jaffna Kings batter Avishka Fernando continues to top the highest run-getters list in the 2024 edition of the Lanka Premier League with 374 runs in 10 innings. Fernando has scored his runs at a strike rate of 162.60.

Kiwi international Tim Seifert is in the second spot on the leaderboard with 353 runs in nine innings, while Jaffna Kings opener Pathum Nissanka has scored 333 runs in 10 innings to occupy the third spot. Andre Fletcher and Alex Hales have scored 321 and 320 runs so far in the tournament, respectively. Fletcher and Hales occupy the fourth and fifth spots on the list with strike rates of 158.12 and 139.13, respectively.

Kusal Perera has scored 296 runs in eight innings for the Dambulla Strikers and is in sixth place, while the likes of Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis are in the seventh and eighth positions with 287 and 286 runs, respectively.

Rilee Rossouw and Angelo Matthew round off the top-10 highest run-getters list with tallies of 283 and 261 runs, respectively.

The Colombo striker bowling duo of Shadab Khan and Mateesha Pathirana has dominated the 2024 Lanka Premier League. Shadab has claimed 17 wickets so far in nine matches, while Pathirana has taken 15 in the same number of games. They are in the first and second spots, respectively.

Wanindu Hasaranga is in third place with 15 wickets, while Isuru Udana has snared 14 wickets in nine games, making him fourth on the leaderboard. Binura Fernando and Dasun Shanaka have picked up 13 wickets each and see themselves in the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

With a tally of 12 wickets, South African international Dwaine Pretorius is in the seventh spot, while Dushan Hemantha is eighth with 11 scalps. With 10 wickets each, Fabian Allen and Maheesh Theekshana round off the top-10 highest wicket-takers list, occupying the ninth and tenth spots, respectively.
