Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)'s impressive all-rounder Yudhvir Singh and Mumbai's tall spinner Himanshu Singh have reportedly been asked to join the Indian men's team's preparatory camp for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh in Chennai.
Yudhvir is a well-built pacer who bowls 140kph+ and can hit sixes in the lower order, which he proved with his wicket of Angkrish Raghuvanshi and a cameo of 14 (7) across two games in IPL 2024. Kashmiri outlet KSportsWatch (KSW) cited a source close to Yudhvir to claim that he will report in Chennai on September 12.
“He received a call yesterday and was asked to report to Chennai on 12th September. It is great news for him– a stepping stone to make it to the Indian team,” a source close to Yudhvir was quoted as saying by KSW.
Meanwhile, The Times of India reported the same for off-spinner Himanshu. He is yet to debut for Mumbai's senior team but has been a consistent performer in age-group cricket.
"Ajit Agarkar (India's chief selector) and his co-selectors have been impressed with Himanshu for a while and have been tracking his progress. He is tall (six foot four inches) and has an action similar to that of Ashwin," TOI cited a source as saying.
Yudhvir has been brilliant for Jammu and Kashmir since moving back home after two years in Hyderabad. He was also part of Jammu and Kashmir's squad for the recent Buchi Babu Tournament.
Himanshu, on the other hand, is coming fresh off a spell of 7/74 for Mumbai against Andhra in the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah memorial tournament.
Duleep Trophy players to join India's camp soon
Yudhvir and Himanshu's call-ups have come amid the ongoing first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy.
The TOI report also reported more players participating in the tournament would join the camp after the first match.
