The Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 season kicked-off on Thursday, August 15, with a double-header at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In the opening match, Bengaluru Blasters pummelled Gulbarga Mystics by nine wickets and with nearly nine overs to spare.
Chasing a paltry 117, Bengaluru Blasters opener LR Chethan charted a fluent half-century while captain Mayank Agarwal punched out 47 unbeaten runs off 29 balls. Earlier in the game, Blasters bowlers Aditya Goyal (3/43), Gneshwar Naveen (2/8), and Mohsin Khan (2/8) had collectively restricted Gulbarga Mystics to a moderate total.
In the second match of the day, Mysore Warriors posted 159/8, largely owing to a blistering 16-ball 42* from Manoj S Bhandage. Among the Shivamogga Lions bowlers, Hardik Raj (2/32), Pradeep T (2/46), and Avinash D (2/44) picked up two wickets each.
Chasing 160, the Shivamogga Lions reached 80/5 from nine overs before rains halted play in Bengaluru. No. 3 batter Abhinav Manohar scored 52 of those runs off just 29 balls as he kept losing partners at the other end to Vidyadhar Patil (1/19), Jagadeesha Suchith (2/15) and Gautam Mishra (1/12). The Mysore Warriors were eventually declared victors by a seven-run margin (DLS method).

Bengaluru Blasters opener LR Chethan (53 runs) and Shivamogga Lions’ Abhinav Manohar (52 runs) take the top two slots on the run-scoring charts of the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 season for scoring blistering half-centuries on the opening day of action.
They are followed by Mayank Agarwal (47 runs) and Mysore Warriors teammates Manoj S Bhandage (42 runs) and Krishnappa Gowtham (21 runs) to round up the top-five list.
Gulbarga Mystics colleagues Devdutt Padikkal and Praveen Dubey take the sixth and seventh positions with 20 and 19 runs, respectively. Karun Nair and Karthik S U, with 18 runs each, are ranked eighth and ninth, respectively, while Luvnith Sujith Sisodia takes the No. 10 spot with 14 runs.

Jagadeesha Suchith, Hardik Raj, Avinash D, and Pradeep T also claimed two wickets each to take the subsequent four slots on the bowling table. Shubhang Hegde and Anand Doddamani take the final two positions for picking up a wicket each.
