Melbourne weather forecast December 28: What are the chances of rain on Day 3 of 4th BGT 2024-25 Test?

Australia dominated Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday, December 27. Resuming their first innings on 311-6, they went on to post 474. Steve Smith, who was unbeaten on 68 overnight, went on to notch up his 34th Test ton before being dismissed for 140. Skipper Pat Cummins chipped in with 49. For India, Jasprit Bumrah finished with 4-99.

In reply to Australia's 474, India were in big trouble at 164-5 after 46 overs at stumps on Day 2. Opening the innings, the woefully out-of-form Rohit Sharma was dismissed for three as he played a half-hearted pull off Cummins. KL Rahul (24) also perished to peach from Cummins to leave India in trouble at 51-2.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (82) and Virat Kohli (36) added 102 for the third wicket, but a horrible mix-up between the two set batters resulted in the run-out of the former. Kohli perished soon after, again flirting at one outside off stump from Scott Boland. Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as nightwatchman Akash Deep was dismissed for a duck, caught at leg gully off Boland.

Shifting focus to the afternoon weather in Melbourne on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test, the conditions are likely to be mostly cloudy and breezy, with a couple of showers also expected. The probability of precipitation during this phase rises to 79 percent. The cloud cover is likely to be high at 98 percent and the humidity level is expected to be around 60 percent.

Looking at the evening weather conditions for Day 3 of the fourth India vs Australia Test, the probability of precipitation is 25 percent, while the cloud cover is expected to be around 67 percent and the humidity level 79 percent.

Meanwhile, India will resume their second innings on Day 3 with Rishabh Pant batting on six and Ravindra Jadeja on four. The visitors trail Australia by 310 runs.
