Nothing seems to be going right for Rohit Sharma at the moment. The Indian skipper is struggling for form with the bat as the Indian team also suffered a defeat in the fourth Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test in Melbourne.

In a press conference after the game, Rohit admitted that he is disappointed with his performance. The right-handed batter added that it is mentally challenging, with things not coming off as one would want them to.

"Lot of the things that I am trying to do aren’t coming off as a batter. Mentally it’s a challenge. It’s a big disappointment. As of now, that is where it is," Rohit Sharma said.

Rohit has played three Tests and five innings in the series so far. He has managed to score only 31 runs at an average of 6.20.

The skipper also added that the team, including himself personally, needs to reflect upon many things. With the last Test to go in Sydney, the 37-year-old stated that leveling the series is the aim.

"There are things we need to look at as a team, I also need to look at personally. There’s still a game to go. If we play well, it will be 2-all. A draw will be really nice (result)," he added.

Rohit Sharma lauds Nitish Reddy, says the all-rounder will only go up

In the press conference, Rohit Sharma also lauded Nitish Reddy for his performance in Melbourne. In the first innings, Reddy notched up his maiden Test hundred, helping India fight to survive in the contest.

Rohit appreciated his technique, potential, and the character that he showed on the field with the bat. Nitish became the third-youngest Indian to hit a Test hundred in Australia.

"We saw a lot of potential. He’s shown what he is capable of, read the situation pretty well. Has a solid technique and superb mind. Has a strong character," the Indian skipper said.

Talking about his growth, Rohit expressed that Nitish is very early in his Test career. However, he expects the all-rounder to only go up, believing that he has what it takes to be successful.

Nitish has scored 294 runs from seven innings in the series at an average of 49. He is India's second-highest run-getter and is only behind Yashasvi Jaiswal.

"Hard to say about his growth because there have been just four matches. He will only go up from here because he has all the tools to be very successful," he said.
