MLC 2024: Most Runs and Most Wickets after MI New York vs Washington Freedom (Updated) ft. Faf du Plessis and Saurabh Netravalkar

The Washington Freedom outclassed MI New York by 94 runs in the 14th fixture of the 2024 Major League Cricket (MLC). Batting first, Washington Freedom opener Travis Head scored a quickfire 33-ball 54, striking at 163.63. Head’s innings consisted of nine fours and two maximums.

Meanwhile, his opening partner Steven Smith (8) couldn't get going. Contributions from batters Andries Gous (59 off 48) and Rachin Ravindra (31 off 14) further down the inning helped the Washington Freedom put up a massive score of 182/5 in 20 overs. Gous and Ravindra batted at a strike rate of 122.91 and 221.42, respectively, while Rashid and Kieron Pollard took two wickets each for MI New York.

The Washington Freedom’s bowling was on par with their batting, if not better, as they bowled MI New York out for just 88 runs in 13.3 overs. Romario Shepherd (25 off 14) top scored for MI New York, while Jasdeep Singh led the Freedom’s bowling with three wickets. He was well supported by his teammates Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, and Glenn Maxwell, who took two wickets each, helping the Washington Freedom win the game by 94 runs.

Faf du Plessis continues to top the highest run-getters list of the 2024 edition of MLC with 209 runs in four innings at a healthy average of 52.25 and a strike rate of 164.56. Du Plessis has the highest score of 100 runs this season. Devon Conway has amassed 164 runs this season at an average of 54.66 and a strike rate of 201.36.

Matthew Short and Travis Head have both crossed the 140-run mark this season, having accumulated 147 and 141 runs, occupying the third and fourth spots, respectively. Ryan Rickleton of the Seattle Orcas is in fifth place with 136 runs in three innings, while Washington Freedom opener Steve Smith is sixth with 134 runs in five matches and an impressive average of 67 runs.

Nicholas Pooran, Jason Roy, and Fin Allen have all crossed the 100-run mark so far this season, scoring 111, 109, and 107 runs, and they occupy the seventh, eighth, and ninth positions, respectively, while Rashid Khan occupies the 10th spot with 88 runs in four innings.
