Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has played down questions on Virat Kohli's weakness outside the off-stump so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The 37-year-old attended a press conference leading up to the fourth Test of the five-match series, starting on Thursday, December 26, in Melbourne.

Kohli's struggles against outside-the-off-stump deliveries are well documented. It has been there for everyone to see in this series as well. Barring the century in the second innings of the Perth Test, the former World No. 1 has fallen prey to Australia's ploy of bowling outside the off-stump.

There have been a lot of discussions about Kohli's weakness outside the off-stump in recent times. Rohit was also asked to comment on his teammate's vulnerability and the Indian captain said Kohli will figure out a way to deal with the problem.

"You only said he is a modern-day great. Modern-day greats will figure out their way or the path (to overcome issues)," Rohit told reporters at a press conference (via The Indian Express).

Virat Kohli has aggregated 126 runs in five innings at an average of 31.50, which is quite below his standards. He will look to bounce back at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), with the series on the line.

"Tanush has shown what he's capable of" - Rohit Sharma on Team India adding Mumbai pacer to the squad

Team India have called up young Mumbai spinner Tanush Kotian for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He will fill the gap left by Ravichandran Ashwin's international retirement midway through the series.

When asked in the same press conference why Tanush was considered, Rohit replied, saying:

"Tanush was here a month back Kuldeep I don't think he has a visa. He's ready, we really want a backup in case we need two spinners here or Sydney. Kuldeep is not 100 percent fit. Other options, Axar has a baby, he's not gonna travel. Tanush has shown what he's capable of."

Tanush was last seen in action in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has picked up two wickets so far in the tournament and scored an unbeaten 39 against Hyderabad.

The 26-year-old off-spinning all-rounder has 101 wickets in 33 first-class matches at an average of 25.70, with the best figures of 5/58.
