Ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah produced another magical spell to bring his side back into the contest on Day 4 against Australia in the fourth Test at Melbourne. After Australia took a 105-run first-innings lead, Bumrah led India's resurgence by knocking over opener Sam Konstas in his first spell.

The 31-year-old then burst through the Aussie middle-order with the wickets of Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey to reduce the hosts to 91/6 after 36 overs. In the process, Bumrah also completed 200 Test wickets with the Head dismissal, becoming the first bowler (with 200 wickets) in history with a sub-20 bowling average.

The champion pacer also took his wickets tally for the series to 29 in 8 innings at an incredible average of 13.10. Bumrah is also the leading wicket-taker thus far in the five-match series, finishing Day 4 with figures of 4/56 in 24 overs.

Fans on Twitter hailed Bumrah for another magical spell with the following reactions:

Fans continued heaping praise on Bumrah, with one saying:

"Bumrah bowling so well that batsmen would rather run themselves out than face him."
"Bumrah is an emerging player who will create history all over the world in the future," tweeted a fan.
"Bumrah's magical bowling changed the course of the match. Full paisa vasool performance," a fan said.

Jasprit Bumrah's heroics set up thrilling final day of Boxing Day Test

Jasprit Bumrah's heroics provided India with a real opportunity to pull off a miraculous win as he reduced Australia to a lead of only 196 with four wickets in hand.

However, the hosts' tail wagged with the final wicket stand between Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon still unbeaten on 55. It meant Australia finished Day 4 on 228/9, with an overall lead of 333.

Before the stubborn final wicket partnership, Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins also added a crucial 57 for the seventh wicket, with the former scoring an invaluable 72.

India have won the last two Test outings in Melbourne in 2018 and 2020, resulting in eventual series wins.

With the series level at 1-1, all three results - wins for either team and a draw look equally possible on the final day.
