Former Australian pacer Nathan Bracken celebrates his 47th birthday on September 12. Making his debut in 2001, Bracken played 140 games for Australia across all formats and bagged a total of 205 wickets. His notable achievements include winning the 2003 and 2007 ODI World Cups. His last international appearance was against England in an ODI fixture in September 2009.

As per his LinkedIn, Bracken now works in a civil engineering company named Fulton Hogan, based in New South Wales. He has been working as a BDM Spray Seal - NSW Civil & Manufacturing in the company for the last seven months.

Bracken held the role of an account manager for five years until March for a firm named Boral in New South Wales. In 2023, he stood as the Liberal Party's candidate for The Entrance in the New South Wales state election.

Here is what Bracken posted earlier this year on LinkedIn about his new job:

Interestingly, Bracken was snapped up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2011 auction for INR 1.3 crore. However, he decided to refuse the offer and stayed away from the cash-rich league. He also did not participate in the home-grown BBL, which took off from the 2011-12 season, due to a persistent knee injury.

Nathan Bracken's career accomplishments

The former left-arm pacer left an indelible mark on Australia's storied cricket history. He was the second-fastest bowler (60 matches) from the country to reach 100 ODI wickets, along with Shane Warne and Dennis Lillee.

Although he didn't play any games in the 2003 World Cup, Nathan Bracken scalped 10 wickets in as many games in the 2007 World Cup, thus playing a key role in the team's title victory.

Bracken was the world's No.1 bowler in the 50-over format in 2008, and was named Australia's ODI Player of the Year for this achievement.

The 47-year-old took a five-wicket haul in the famous ODI between Australia and South Africa in Johannesburg in 2006. The game saw the Proteas complete the highest-ever successful run-chase of 435, with Herschelle Gibbs slamming 175.
