India cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy recently climbed the 3,000 steps to the renowned Tirupati temple in his home state of Andhra Pradesh on his knees, offering a heartfelt gesture of devotion and gratitude. This followed his heroics in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Down Under.
Although India failed to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in 10 years, suffering a 3-1 defeat, 21-year-old Reddy emerged as one of the brightest stars for the visitors. The right-handed batter accumulated 298 runs in nine innings, averaging 37.25.
His standout performance came in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne, where he scored a brilliant 114 off 189 balls, including 11 boundaries and a six, and helped India reduce the gap with Australia's first-innings score. In addition to his batting exploits, Nitish contributed with the ball, claiming five wickets in the five-Test series.
On Monday, January 13, the young cricketer was seen climbing the steps of the Tirupati temple on his knees, offering a heartfelt gesture of devotion and prayer.
