Australian keeper-batter Alex Carey has insisted that opener Sam Konstas carries no hard feelings towards Virat Kohli following the shoulder bump incident during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Carey suggested that the 19-year-old is not the person to take such things to heart.

With the right-hander going strong on debut, Kohli seemingly tried to rattle him with a shoulder bump in between overs on Day 1, attracting criticism from all corners. After the day's play, the ICC imposed a 20% fine on Kohli's match fees and gave him one demerit point for the gesture.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the South Australian recalled seeing a photo of Kohli shaking hands with the youngster after the match, signaling that everything was alright between them. He said, as quoted by Fox Cricket:

"Not that I’m aware of. I think I saw a photo of them shaking hands and a little tap on the back. It’s Test cricket. I’m not 100 per cent sure, but Sam didn’t take it to heart."

After hitting a fiery 60 on his debut innings, the teenage prodigy was seen hyping the crowd following Kohli's wicket. Konstas departed for a single-figure score in the second innings as Jasprit Bumrah castled him.

"Just the energy he bought, it was something different" - Alex Carey on Sam Konstas

Carey observed that the difference between Konstas and Nathan McSweeney was that the former was able to score runs to put the tourists on the back foot. The left-hander added:

"Just the energy he bought, it was something different. Probably wasn’t expecting that amount of difference, but he played a style of cricket that was probably new to India as well. I thought Nathan and Usman got us through tough situations as well by facing lots of balls. Sam was able to score a little bit, so hopefully another opportunity in front of his home fans."

Australia took a 2-1 lead in the five-Test series with a 184-run victory in Melbourne. However, a loss for the hosts in the fifth Test in Sydney will mean that India retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
