Rangpur Riders' captain Nurul Hasan delivered a stunning performance to secure a miraculous victory, hitting 30 runs off the final over when his team required 26 to win. This remarkable finish came in the 13th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 against Fortune Barishal. The match took place on Thursday, January 9, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Chasing 198, Rangpur Riders got off to a shaky start with opener Alex Hales dismissed for just one. Tawfique Khan (38 off 28) and Saif Hassan (22 off 19) provided solid contributions, but it was the Pakistani duo of Iftikhar Ahmed (48 off 36) and Khushdil Shah (48 off 24) who truly stepped up, playing crucial knocks to keep the Riders in the game. It all came down to the final over, with 26 runs required for victory.

Kyle Mayers was entrusted with the task of bowling the last over, and he was immediately punished by Rangpur skipper Nurul Hasan, who launched a six to deep mid-wicket. Hasan followed it up with two consecutive boundaries, reducing the target to just 12 runs off the final three balls.

Nurul then launched another six to deep square leg off the fourth ball, and the penultimate delivery went for a boundary. In a thrilling finish, Hasan smashed the final ball for yet another six, sealing a remarkable victory with 30 runs off the last over.

Here’s a video of the carnage:

The 31-year-old remained unbeaten on 32 off seven balls, leading the Riders to victory in the final moments with three wickets to spare.

Asked to bat first, Fortune Barishal’s openers, skipper Tamim Iqbal (40 off 34) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (41 off 30), gave their team a solid start, putting on an 81-run partnership off 61 balls.

However, it was West Indies' Kyle Mayers who truly stole the show. The left-handed batter remained unbeaten on 61 off 29 balls, smashing one boundary and seven sixes. Faheem Ashraf also contributed with a quick-fire 20 off six balls, helping Barishal post a total of 197 runs in the first innings.
