Fans have slammed ace India batter Virat Kohli, who departed for only seven runs on Day 1 (December 6) of the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Adelaide. The 36-year-old overcame a series of low scores to smash a brilliant century in the second innings of the opening Test in Perth.

However, he could not capitalize on his return to form with indecision, costing his wicket, much like the first innings of the Perth Test. Kohli was late in withdrawing the bat off a length delivery from Mitchell Starc angling across off-stump, resulting in an outside edge into the hands of Steve Smith at second slip.

Despite the second innings century at Perth, it was Kohli's sixth sub-20 score in his last seven Test innings, dating back to the home series against New Zealand.

Fans on X/Twitter did not hold back in criticizing Kohli for another low score in Tests with the following reactions:

Fans continued slamming Kohli for a second single-digit score in the Australian series, with one saying:

"Kohli again too much press on the front foot and not able to control the short ball .. same mistake again and again.. his back foot play will not improve and he will continue to repeat this mistake."
"One good thing about Kohli getting out early is that I don't have to hear the star sports commentators larp about him," tweeted a fan.
"Kohli can resist chole bhature but can't resist a drive to a wide ball outside off-stump," a fan said.

Team India collapse after solid start to Day 1 of 2nd BGT Test

Coming off their emphatic win in Perth, Team India won the toss and elected to bat first for a second consecutive outing. Much like Perth, however, they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck off the first ball of the contest.

Yet, fellow opener KL Rahul and the returning Shubman Gill batted with terrific composure to weather the new ball stand and take India to 69/1.

Just when it looked like the visitors would go into the dinner break on a high, disaster struck. Rahul and Kohli fell in quick succession to Starc before the ever-reliable Scott Boland accounted for the well-set Gill.

India lost three wickets for just 12 runs to falter to 81/4 before skipper Rohit Sharma and the Australian nemesis Rishabh Pant took the side to 82/4 in 23 overs at the end of the first session.

For Australia, Starc was the pick of the bowlers with excellent figures of 3/31 in eight overs.
