Team India spin ace and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently reacted to a post on social media which was a funny tribute to his batting skills. The interaction took place today, December 20.
Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement on Wednesday, December 18, after the third Test of the series between India and Australia ended in a draw. He left Australia soon after the announcement and landed in India, where he was greeted in grand fashion.
Since then, the 38-year-old has put out some posts and has also replied to some of them thanking his services. He came across one such post by @149Wanderers on the social media platform X which read:
"Only YouTuber to score a test century"
When playing, Ashwin concurrently had a YouTube channel as well, where he discussed cricket matches and the various nuances of the game. The post referenced the same and he replied to it with laughing emojies.
Take a look at the interaction below:
While many speak of Ashwin's prowess with the ball, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder was equally good with the bat as well. In Test cricket, Ashwin has scored 14 half-centuries along with six tons.
"Thank you so much for coming over here" - Ravichandran Ashwin addresses media outside his house in Chennai
Ravichandran Ashwin arrived home in Chennai yesterday and was greeted in grand fashion. Addressing the media outside his residence, Ashwin said:
"Thank you so much for coming over here. I didn’t expect that so many of you would come here. I just thought I’ll come quietly, sit, and relax at home. But this has made my day, thank you.
"After playing Test cricket for so many years – the last time it (the reception) was like this after we won the 2011 World Cup and I came home. It’s the same feeling so you go down the same memory lane and walk back from it."
While Ashwin has announced retirement from international cricket, he will continue to feature for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. It will also be interesting to see whether he will be a part of the Tamil Nadu team that will play the Ranji Trophy later this season.
