The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have announced the schedule for the upcoming two-match Test series against the visiting West Indies team. The tour begins with a three-day practice match against the Pakistan Shaheens, which will be played in Rawalpindi from January 10-12, 2025.
Meanwhile, the two Test matches will be hosted at the Multan Cricket Stadium from January 17-21 and January 25-29. The West Indies Men's cricket team will arrive in the capital city, Islamabad, on January 6 for the tour.
The West Indies' last Test tour of Pakistan came in November 2006, which was a three-match series. The hosts clinched it, having won the first and third Test matches. The second fixture in Multan ended in a draw. Led by Inzamam-ul-Haq, Pakistan won the series opener by nine wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore before registering a 199-run victory at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The Men in Maroon's latest tour of Pakistan was in June 2022 for three ODIs. The visitors were whitewashed, having lost all three 50-over clashes played in Multan.
Pakistan create history with an ODI series whitewash against South Africa
The Mohammad Rizwan-led side scripted history on Sunday, December 22, when they defeated South Africa in the third ODI in Johannesburg. With that victory, they became the first-ever nation to whitewash the Proteas at home in an ODI series.
Prior to the ODIs, they suffered a 2-0 defeat in the three-match T20I series. Next up, the two teams will go head-to-head in the Test series, beginning on December 26 in Centurion. After the Boxing Day Test, the focus will shift towards the Newlands in Cape Town for the second and final encounter to be played from January 3, 2025, onwards.
Meanwhile, the West Indies recently suffered a 3-0 whitewash in the T20Is against Bangladesh at home. Although the Test series ended 1-1, the Calypso Kings whitewashed the Tigers 3-0 in the ODIs.
