“People feared that his name will get stuck with him” - Yograj Singh reveals why Arjun Tendulkar stopped practising under him

Father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, Yograj Singh has revealed why Arjun Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar's son, stopped training under him. Arjun trained for a brief period under Yograj Singh in 2022.

Yograj runs his cricket academy in Chandigarh, where the young left-arm pacer trained for a very short period of just 12 days. Yograj Singh, on 'Unfiltered by Samdish' podcast, has claimed that Arjun Tendulkar scored a hundred in the Ranji Trophy when he was training under him.

However, Yograj revealed after that scoring the hundred, Arjun soon received an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract and stopped practising under him. He stated that people did not want Arjun's name to be associated with Yograj, which is why he stopped training under him.

"Sachin's son. He comes here for 12 days and scores a hundred. When he scored a hundred on debut and then came back to IPL, people feared that his (Arjun) name will get stuck with him (Yograj). Are you understanding my point?" Yograj said.

He also added that people were afraid of 'name-sticking'. Yograj revealed that he had asked his son Yuvraj to call Sachin Tendulkar and send Arjun to train under him.

“People are very afraid of name-sticking. I told Yuvi (Yuvraj) to call Sachin and ask him to give me Arjun for a year. See what happens after that,” he added.

Yograj Singh draws criticism for controversial comments

Yograj Singh has made a few controversial comments that have drawn criticism against him on social media. He recently stated that he would have been a proud dad had his Yuvraj Singh died from cancer and had India won the World Cup.

Yuvraj was battling cancer throughout the 2011 ODI World Cup and was diagnosed only after the tournament. He played a key role in helping India win the tournament.

Further, he also made a controversial statement on women, stating that a wife would destroy the house if given power. He also made controversial comments on former Indian cricketer and 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev.
