Test cricket has been one of the most common topics for questions in the popular Indian quiz game show - KBC: Kaun Banega Crorepati. On yesterday's (October 2) episode, the show's host Amitabh Bachchan asked another question about cricket.
It was related to the India vs England series, which happened earlier this year in India. The contestant was asked who became the second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to score more than 700 runs in a series. This question was for ₹6.4 lakh and the four options were Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma.
The contestant was confused and decided to use the 'Audience Poll' lifeline. Interestingly, 37% of the users voted for Virat Kohli even though he did not play in the series. The correct answer was Yashasvi Jaiswal, with 49% of the audience voting for him.
Shubman Gill received 4% votes, whereas the remaining 10% audience voted for Rohit Sharma. Both Sharma and Gill played in that series for India.
Yashasvi Jaiswal joined Sunil Gavaskar in an elite club of Indian Test batters earlier this year
Sunil Gavaskar was the only Indian batter to score more than 700 runs in a series before 2024. The Little Master achieved the feat twice, scoring 774 runs against West Indies in 1970/71, and then he scored 732 runs against the same opponents in 1978/79.
Yashasvi Jaiswal joined Gavaskar in the elite club of Indian batters by aggregating 712 runs against England earlier this year. The youngster had a dream series against the English team as he smashed two double-hundreds and three half-centuries in the series.
Thanks to Jaiswal's phenomenal batting performances, India won the series by 4-1. India will clash against New Zealand in their next series, having recently beat Bangladesh 2-0 in a series. It will be interesting to see if Jaiswal can continue in the same vein.
