England Test team skipper Ben Stokes underwent surgery to repair his torn left hamstring. The all-rounder shared a picture of his lower body on Instagram soon after the surgery and gave an update to his fans on January 7.
Stokes suffered the hamstring injury during England's recently-concluded away Test series against New Zealand. The damage to the left hamstring forced Stokes to undergo surgery, which will now need a three-month recovery.
Notably, the England Test captain was not named in the country's Champions Trophy 2025 squad. He also didn't register for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. He will now get a proper amount of time to rest before the big home series against India in June.
Sharing an update after his surgery, Ben Stokes shared the following picture on Instagram and wrote:
"Bionic Man for a while 🤣 Surgery ✅ In a bit."
The post has received over 30,000 likes and 200 comments already. Many cricket fans wished him a speedy recovery ahead of the crucial Test series against India in June.
Can Ben Stokes lead England to a Test series win against India in June?
As mentioned ahead, Stokes will be out of action for approximately three months due to surgery. He will likely make his return to the field in County Championship matches for Durham before the international summer begins. This year, England will host Zimbabwe for a Test match in May.
England will then host India for a five-match Test series. Last year, the Stokes-led outfit suffered a 1-4 defeat at the hands of India in the five-Test series hosted by India. Skipper Stokes will be keen to avenge that defeat in the upcoming summer.
Also, this series will mark the beginning of the 2025-27 WTC cycle for England and India. Having failed to qualify for the 2025 WTC Final, both teams will try their best to avoid dropping points.
