[Photo] KBC host Amitabh Bachchan asks question about India vs South Africa 2024 T20I series for ₹3,20,000

The 16th season of KBC: Kaun Banega Crorepati, the popular quiz show, airs on weekdays in India. Its host Amitabh Bachchan presented a question related to the India vs South Africa T20I series to a contestant for ₹3,20,000 prize money. It came in the episode which aired on Monday, December 9.

India defeated South Africa by 3-1 in the series played in November 2024. The question was which cricketer smashed back-to-back centuries in that four-match T20I series. As per the game's rules, the contestant received four options to choose from.

The four options were Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, and Shubman Gill. Tilak was the right answer, and the contestant answered it correctly to win ₹3,20,000. Here is a screenshot of the question.

It is pertinent to note that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill did not participate in the T20I series. Abhishek Sharma was a part of the squad, but he could not register a century throughout the tour.

Tilak Varma was promoted to the number three position in the third and fourth T20Is. The left-handed batter smacked a century in both games.

Tilak Varma helped India win the T20I series against South Africa

The four-match series was equal at 1-1 when captain Suryakumar Yadav promoted Tilak Varma to the number three position in the batting order. Varma responded by scoring an unbeaten 56-ball 107* at the SuperSport Park.

The pressure was on Varma because opener Sanju Samson had been dismissed for a duck. The left-hander remained not out till the end, helping the team reach 219/6 in 20 overs. The Men in Blue won that game by 11 runs.

In the final match of the series, Varma and Sanju Samson whacked a ton each to guide the team to a mammoth 283/1 in 20 overs. Varma top-scored with an unbeaten 47-ball 120*.
