Indian music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal recently posted an Instagram story for vice-captain Smriti Mandhana following her century in the ODI series decider against New Zealand on Tuesday, October 29. Muchhal shared a photograph of Mandhana lifting her bat after completing her eighth ODI ton. She scored 100 runs off 122 balls, a knock laced with 10 boundaries, as India won the match and took the series 2-1.

According to media reports (via Herzindagi), Palash once proposed to Mandhana in front of his sister – famous singer Palak Muchhal – and dedicated a romantic song to the batter. Their relationship was apparently sealed after the proposal.

Smriti Mandhana eclipsed former India captain Mithali Raj (seven tons) for most centuries in the 50-over format. Overall, former Australia skipper Meg Lanning (15) holds the record for the most ODI hundreds. The top five list also features Suzie Bates (13), Tammy Beaumont (10), Nat-Sciver Brunt, and Chamari Athapaththu and Charlotte Edwards (nine each).

Meanwhile, Palash was born on May 22, 1995. He belongs to a Marwari family and lives in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He has appeared in the movie ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ and has lent music to films like ‘Dishkiyaoon’ and ‘Bhootnath Returns.’ A few of his famous songs are ‘Party Toh Banti Hai’ and ‘Tu Hi Hai Aashiqui.’

“The first two games didn’t go my way, so really happy I could get a score today” – Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Madhana expressed delight at her contribution to India’s six-wicket victory against New Zealand in the series decider after failing to deliver in the first two games. On this, she said (via Cricbuzz):

“Really pleased to get the series win. As I said in the first game, it has been a tough 1 and a half months for this team. The first two games didn’t go my way so really happy I could get a score today. It was more about controlling my shots, you don’t bat the same way every day. You’re in the best frame some days and you’re not other days.”
“Had to be little hard on myself early on and wait for the first 10 overs to go before taking the game on. For me what works is the harder way. Need to do it for the team first. Getting out early means I’ve let the team down and that thought doesn’t let me sleep well. As a cricketer you are going to get highs and lows, you need to keep the routine the same,” he added.

Smriti Mandhana will next play for the Adelaide Strikers in the ongoing 2024-25 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).
