Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh took to X (formerly Twitter), slamming a user for commenting against him and Rohit Sharma. The user wrote that Harbhajan Singh is the same person who had once slapped another former Indian cricketer Sreesanth on the field.
Therefore, he believes that Harbhajan should not comment on who is good or bad. Further, the user dragged in Rohit Sharma's father, writing that the Indian cricket team does not belong to Mr. Gurunath Sharma (Rohit's father) and that his son cannot play despite not performing well.
Moreover, the user went to the extent of writing that Harbhajan could not create the 'opt-out' narrative. He reasoned that everyone in the cricketing fraternity knows that Rohit Sharma was 'dropped' owing to his constant failures.
The former Indian spinner replied to the user, slamming him for his comments. Harbhajan asked him to listen to his full interview and Rohit's interview on Star Sports before speaking anything.
He also said that Rohit Sharma did what no other Indian captain did despite successive series defeats overseas. The spinner added that Rohit is different and lauded the right-hander for putting the team ahead of himself.
"Plz listen to my full interview first and rohit sharma’s interview today on Starsports before u open ur mouth. What he has done None Indian captain ever thought of despite of loosing series after series Abroad and without scoring runs . Fark hai bandhe mai . He is a Leader . Well done @ImRo45 Team Always First 🇮🇳," Harbhajan wrote.
Rohit Sharma 'opts out' of fifth BGT 2024-25 Test in Sydney
Rohit Sharma, who led the Indian team in Adelaide, Brisbane, and Melbourne, is not a part of the fifth Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test in Sydney.
For those unaware, the Indian batter stepped aside and decided to 'opt out' of the Sydney Test. The 37-year-old took the tough decision owing to his poor form as the fifth Test is a must-win affair for India.
The decision also sparked conversations if Rohit Sharma would retire from the Test format. However, the right-hander cleared the air on all speculation. On the second day (Saturday, January 4) of the Test, Rohit made it clear that he is not retiring from the format and is not going anywhere.
