Pondicherry Women’s T20 Tournament 2024 Points Table: Updated standings after Princess Women vs Diamonds Women, Match 2

The 2024 Pondicherry Women’s T20 League kicked off at the Pondicherry Cricket Association Ground on Monday, July 15. The Angels Women won their first encounter of the season by defeating the Queens Women by nine wickets.

Meanwhile, the Princess Women successfully defended a target of 151 runs in the second game of the day, with the Princess winning the game by one run.

The Angels Women lead the tournament standings after their victory over the Queens. With two points and a net run rate of +1.059, they occupy the first place. Princess Women, with their one-run win over the Diamonds, have two points and a net run rate of +0.100, and they occupy the second spot.

The Diamonds Women are in the third spot with one loss in one game and a net run rate of -0.100, while Queens Women languish in the last position with zero points and a net run rate of -1.059.

Angels start the tournament with a win; Princess narrowly eke-out a one-run win

The first game of the Pondicherry Women’s T20 League was a low-scoring affair as the Queens Women put up a score of 100/8 in 20 overs while batting first against the Angels Women. Shivani Gupta top scored for the Queens with a 30-ball 43 strike at 143.33.

Barring Shivanti, no other batter made a significant contribution. Abirame Ramamurthy R took 3/23 in four overs for the Angels, while her teammate Rohini Mane finished her spell with figures of 2/17 in four overs.

In reply, Esha Subhash Mavi (53 off 56) and Mani Shailaja (32 off 37) ensured the Angels Women a comfortable nine-wicket win over Queens. Sonal Patil picked up the solitary wicket for the Queens.

The Princess Women elected to bat first in the second game of the day against Diamonds Women. Yuvashir Karthikeyan top-scored for the Princess Women with a solid 66-ball 86* batting average at a strike rate of 130.30. Meanwhile, Karthikeyan’s opening partner, Anjana B, scored 44 runs in 42 deliveries.

The Princess Women finished the first innings with a score of 150/1 in 20 overs as Maya Sonawane took one wicket for the Diamonds.

Reena Thirugnanam S (26 off 29) and Jyoti Yadav's (22 off 13) contributions went in vain as the Diamon Women narrowly lost the game by just one run. Yuvashree Karthikeyan helped the Princess Women restrict the Diamonds with a three-wicket haul.
