Pune weather forecast October 24: What are the chances of rain on Day 1 of the 2nd IND vs NZ 2024 Test?

Team India will face New Zealand in the second Test of the series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune from Thursday, October 24. Having lost the first Test in Bengaluru, the hosts need a result to stay alive in the three-match series.

India batted first after winning the toss in Bengaluru but folded up for an embarrassing 46 in bowler-friendly conditions. They made a commendable fightback in the second innings, posting 462 courtesy of Sarfaraz Khan (150) and Rishabh Pant (99). However, they couldn't avoid defeat. It remains to be seen if the hosts make any changes to their playing XI for the second Test.

If we talk about the weather conditions in Pune for Day 1 of the second India-New Zealand Test, AccuWeather states that it will be partly sunny in the morning, with the temperature in the range of 30 degree Celsius. The probability of precipitation is just one percent, while the cloud cover is predicted to be around 58 percent. As for the humidity level, it is likely to be around 76 percent.

Shifting focus to the afternoon weather in Pune on Thursday, the forecast states that it will remain partly cloudy, with the temperature rising slightly to 32 degree Celsius. The probability of precipitation during this phase remains at one percent, while the cloud cover falls to 43 percent. The humidity level during this period will also be lower at 46 percent.

Looking at the evening weather in Pune for Thursday, AccuWeather's prediction states that it will be mainly clear. The probability of precipitation is still one percent, even as the cloud cover prediction rises to 62 percent. As for the humidity level, it is expected to be around 63 percent in the evening. As per the weather forecast, rain is unlikely to play spoilsport on Day 1 of the Test.


Team India have a mixed record in Test matches in Pune

Team India have played two Tests at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune so far, winning one and losing one. The hosts went down to Australia by 333 runs in February 2017 and hammered South Africa by an innings and 137 runs in October 2019.

Left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe was the surprise hero of Australia's triumph over India in 2017, registering identical figures of 6-35 in both innings. Virat Kohli starred with a career-best 254* off 336 balls, slamming 33 fours and two sixes, as India thumped the Proteas in 2019.
