Rohit Sharma receives royal invite from MCA for Wankhede Stadium's 50th anniversary 

Team India's ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma has received a royal invitation to the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The event will be organized by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) at the iconic stadium on January 19.

Sharma was presented the invite by MCA Jt Secretary Mr Deepak Patil and Apex Council Member Mr Nilesh Bhosale. The MCA shared a picture on its X account, in which the ace batter can be seen collecting the invitation for the grand celebrations.

MCA wrote:

"Look who's coming for the #Wankhede50! MCA Jt Secretary Mr. Deepak Patil & Apex Council Member Mr. Nilesh Bhosale have extended the royal invite to 𝘔𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘪 𝘤𝘩𝘢 𝘙𝘢𝘫𝘢, Rohit Sharma, for the grand celebration!"

It is worth mentioning that apart from Rohit Sharma, the other prominent names who are expected to be present for Wankhede Stadium's 50th anniversary celebration include batting legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar.

Sachin Tendulkar has great memories at the Wankhede Stadium. He drew curtains on his illustrious international career at the same venue on November 16, 2013.

Expressing his delight at the stadium competing 50 years, Tendulkar said in a video posted by him on X:

"We are celebrating 50 years of Wankhede Stadium. 50 years are complete. It's a long time,from playing at the stadium when I was young to my retirement, there were some incredible moments, not just for me, but for so many people. The best moment of my life was when we won the World Cup in 2011. So, I would say that now it's the time for us to get together and celebrate Wankede Stadium."

According to reports, Mandira Bedi and Prasanna Sant will be the hosts of the grand event. A special laser show is planned for the celebration along with performances from music composers Ajay-Atul and Avadhoot Gupte.
