The Royal London One Day Cup 2024 season continued on Wednesday, August 7 with three Group A games and one Group B fixture across four English venues.
In the first Group A match of the day, Worcestershire hunted down Kent’s 259-run total in the penultimate over with two wickets in hand. Rob Jones and captain Jack Libby conjured sparkling half-centuries in the chase to orchestrate Worcestershire’s remarkable win.
Meanwhile at Northampton, hosts Northamptonshire (155 all out) were toppled by the visiting Somerset group by seven wickets and with nearly 25 overs to spare. Opening batter Andrew Umeed (63 off 66 balls) headlined the chase for the victors after Alfie Ogborne, Josh Davey and Lewis Goldsworthy decimated Northamptonshire’s line-up with the ball.
In Southampton, Hampshire pulverized Derbyshire by 143 runs after forming 295/8 upfront from 50 overs. Joe Weatherley and captain Nick Gubbins pounded majestic half-centuries at the top for Hampshire, before Dominic Kelly folded up Derbyshire for 152 by packing career-best List A figures of 5/19.
In the final and the only Group B match of the day, Gloucestershire bowlers Ajeet Singh Dale (4/15) and Zaman Akhter (3/25) restricted Sussex to just 132/9 in a 41-over game. In response, Gloucestershire batters mowed down their target with eight wickets and 21 overs in the bank.

Leicestershire’s Sol Budinger remains the highest run-getter of the Royal London One Day Cup 2024 season with 367 runs. He is followed by Ed Barnard (347 runs) and Dom Sibley (333 runs) as the three most successful batters of the season so far.
Somerset’s Andrew Umeed reaped the highest rewards out of all top 10 batters on the day, as his 63-run knock helped him jump from number seven to number four on the season’s run-scoring list.
Gareth Roderick and Prithvi Shaw occupy the fifth and sixth positions with 303 runs each, while Ben Slater follows them at seven with 296 runs. Jake Libby (287 runs), Ryan Patel (254 runs) and James Rew (251 runs) round up the top 10 batting charts at number eight, nine and ten respectively.

Glamorgan’s Dan Douthwaite and Warwickshire’s Ed Barnard lead the wicket-taking charts of the Royal London One Day Cup 2024 season with 15 and 13 scalps, respectively. Zak Chappell, also with 13 wickets, gained a rung to climb to number three as he swapped positions with Ben Coad at number four.
Jack Home, Ajeet Singh Dale, Cameron Steel and Conor McKerr occupy the subsequent four slots on the top 10 list for picking up 12 wickets each. Andy Gorvin and Jack Leach take the final two positions on the bowling standings for claiming 11 wickets from their ends.
