The Royal London One Day Cup 2024 season staged three games, including one Group A affair and two Group B fixtures on Thursday, August 8. Glamorgan and Warwickshire's clash ended in a no result while Leicestershire beat Yorkshire in the second game.
The first match of the day between Glamorgan and Warwickshire at Birmingham ended as a rain-soddened no-result after the former listed 143/5 from 18 overs. Sam Northeast at number four bludgeoned 68 unbeaten runs. Meanwhile, Warwickshire bowlers Oliver Hannon-Dalby (2/21) and Tazeem Chaudry Ali (2/40) hogged the limelight with the ball.
At Scarborough, a spirited Leciestershire's run-chase overpowered Yorkshire (236/7) in rain-curtailed 22-over innings. After Ian Holland and Tom Scriven disrupted Yorkshire’s batting momentum with two wickets each, Leicestershire captain Lewis Hill unfurled 71* from 54 balls. He helped his side reach 152/2 in 19.4 overs to claim an eight-wicket win (DLS method).
The third and only Group A match of the day between Lancashire and Middlesex at Manchester, witnessed the latter prevailing by five wickets in the penultimate over. For starters, Middlesex bowlers Henry Brooks (4/43) and Ethan Bamber (2/31) restricted Lancashire to 233/9 from 48 overs. With the bat, opener Joe Cracknell cracked 98 runs at the top while unbeaten Sam Robson intensified 87 runs to headline Middlesex’s successful chase.

Leicestershire’s Sol Budinger (368 runs), Warwickshire’s Ed Barnard (347 runs), and Surrey’s Dom Sibley (333 runs) remain the three leading run-scorers of Royal London One Day 2024. Someret’s Andrew Umeed (324 runs), Worcestershire’s Gareth Roderick and Northamptonshire’s Indian import Prithvi Shaw (303 runs each) are the only other batters to have tallied over 300 runs this season.
They are followed by Ben Slater at number seven with 296 runs and Joe Cracknell with 295 runs at number eight on the top 10 batting charts. Jake Libby and Ryan Patel occupy the final two positions on the table for minting 287 and 254 runs respectively.

Despite going wicketless on the day, Glamorgan’s Dan Douthwaite and Warwickshire’s Ed Barnard remain the two leading wicket-takers of the Royal London One Day Cup 2024. They have struck 15 and 13 times respectively. Derbyshire fast bowler Zak Chappell has also claimed 13 wickets in the competition to be ranked third on the top 10 wicket-taking charts.
Ben Coad, Jack Home, Ajeet Singh Dale, Cameron Steel, and Conor McKerr take the subsequent five slots on the bowling standings for picking up 12 wickets each. Andy Gorvin and Jack Leach have both claimed 11 wickets so far to round up the top 10 bowling table.
