Warwickshire trumped Leicestershire in a low-scoring affair; Hampshire defeated Northamptonshire by 71 runs
Warwickshire elected to field first in the very first game of the day against Leicestershire. The decision to bowl first paid instant dividends as they bundled out Leicestershire for a paltry 88 in just 25.4 overs. Ben Mike (21 off 26) top-scored for Leicestershire. Meanwhile, Warwickshire bowlers skipper Ed Barnard (4/21) and Craig Miles (3/16) wreaked havoc on the Leicestershire batters.
Will Rhodes (48*) and Hamza Shaikh (34*) helped Warwickshire chase down this low total with ease. They chased down the target in just 17.2 overs and eight wickets to spare.
The third game of the day saw Hampshire post a total of 285/8 after they were put into bat first by Northamptonshire at the Ageas Bowl. Wicketkeeper batter Ben Brown scored a magnificent 139* off 131 deliveries, top scoring for his team. Felix Organ’s half-century (59 off 51) gave Brown’s innings an able support and helped his team reach a solid first-inning score. Jack White and Saif Zaib took three wickets each for Northamptonshire.
Prithvi Shaw (40 off 34) and Angus Miller (47 off 49) top-scored for Northamptonshire. However, it wasn't enough as they were bowled out for 214 in 43.5 overs. Hampshire bowlers Eddie Jack (4/29) and Tom Prest (3/41) helped their team win this encounter by a mammoth 71 runs.
