Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sharad Pawar unveil new Maharashtra Cricket Association logo

The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA), headquartered in Pune, unveiled its new logo on Monday, August 12. Former ICC and BCCI president Sharad Pawar and team captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, among other dignitaries, were present for the occasion.

What used to be a batch-shaped emblem with a castle and two arrows in between, now is an octagon logo with a silhouetted photo of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj against a saffron background. Cricket bats and a leather ball also found space in the new logo.

"Maharashtra Cricket Association's new logo was unveiled by former ICC and BCCI President, former Union Minister Sharad Pawar, BCCI Treasurer Ashishji Shelar, Maharashtra Cricket Association President Rohitdada Pawar and Apex Board members," the MCA said in a statement on social media. "Former cricketer Chandu Borde sir, international cricketer Ruturaj Gaikwad, ex-cricketers of Maharashtra and ex-officers of MCA were present on this occasion."

The statement was attached to a logo unveiling video which also mentioned MCA's eight "virtues" in Marathi which can be roughly translated assSelf-respect, organization, patience, strategy, steady intellect, diligence, restraint, and all-comprehensive.

The MCA was established in 1934. The Maharashtra men's team is among the oldest on the domestic circuit, winning two Ranji Trophy titles and one Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.

Maharashtra Cricket Association also unveiled a new office

The organization also inaugurated a new office alongside the logo. President Rohit Pawar wrote on the occasion:

"Inauguration of new office of 'Maharashtra Cricket Association' #MCA in Pune and unveiling of new logo of #MCA senior leader and ex-president of #ICC respected Pawar Saheb and treasurer of #BCCI Adv. @ShelarAshish was done by G. Apex body member, former cricketer Chandu Borde Sir, @Ruutu1331 and former players were present on this occasion."

The Maharashtra teams will be in action in the coming weeks as the new domestic season kicks off in September.
