India's keeper-batter Sanju Samson, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and designated finisher Rinku Singh made substantial gains in the ICC player rankings following their exploits in the T20I series against Bangladesh.
Suryakumar Yadav-led India thumped Bangladesh 3-0 in the recently concluded three-match T20I series. Samson hammered a brilliant 111 off 47 balls in the third T20I in Hyderabad, which the Men in Blue won by 133 runs. On the basis of the match-winning effort, he has climbed 91 places to 65th position in the ICC Men's T20I batting rankings.
Reddy made his debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh. He slammed 74 off only 34 balls in the second match in Delhi and has jumped 255 places to 72nd position.
As for Rinku, he contributed a whirlwind 53 off 29 in the second T20I, with the aid of five fours and three sixes. He has moved up 22 places and now occupies the 43rd place in the ICC Men's T20I batter rankings.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was named the Player of the Series against Bangladesh, has also gained four places and is now in 59th position. Skipper Suryakumar has maintained his second position in the ICC T20I rankings, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was rested for the T20Is against Bangladesh, has moved down one place to No. 6.
Among bowlers, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who claimed 3-30 in the third T20I, has gained four places and is now in eighth position in the ICC Men's T20I bowler rankings. On the other hand, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has lost four places and finds himself in 12th place.
For Bangladesh, Towhid Hridoy has gained four places and is 27th in the updated rankings, while keeper-batter Liton Das is at No. 40 after moving up two positions. Among bowlers, Mustafizur Rahman is up one place to 15th position, while Taskin Ahmed has gained 11 places and is 19th in the ICC Men's T20I bowler rankings.
Jooe Root touches new high in Test batting rankings
Looking at Test rankings, England batter Joe Root has achieved a new high in terms of rating points. He has 932 points following his career-best 262 against Pakistan in Multan. Only three England batters have achieved higher rating points than Root - Len Hutton (945), Jack Hobbs (942) and Peter May (941).
Harry Brook, who slammed 317 off 322 balls in Multan in the first Test, is joint-second with Kane Williamson in the updated Men's Test batter rankings. His teammates Ben Ducket and Zak Crawley are 14th and 24th, respectively.
