Well-known Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan shared an incident involving former Indian captain Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood star, Anushka Sharma. Speaking on The Ranveer Show (TRS) podcast, Varun shared a story from India's tour of England in 2018.

He recalled when Anushka Sharma shared some insights about Virat Kohli's hindsight, citing an incident from a Test match in England in 2018.

"I think it was the Nottingham [Birmingham] Test only, when India had lost. She (Anushka) said she didn't attend that game that day. She came back and she didn't know where Virat was. She came to the room and saw him really down, like literally crying, and how he took the whole thing on himself that I (Virat) failed, when he was still the highest scorer. He was the captain of the side," Varun said.

While Varun mentioned Nottingham, it is the Birmingham Test in 2018 that he is talking about in the clip.

Virat Kohli's heroics went in vain as India lost the Birmingham Test in 2018

Going back to the game mentioned by Varun Dhawan, it was the Birmingham Test during India's tour of England in 2018. Batting first, England put up 287 runs on the board in the first innings.

India got to 274 in reply, thanks to a Virat Kohli masterclass. While the rest of the Indian batters failed to score, the then-Indian captain slammed a 225-ball 149, leading the fight for the visitors.

England were then bowled out for 180 runs in their second innings, which meant the visitors were set a target of 194 runs to win the Test match. While India did go behind the target, they fell agonizingly short after coming close, being bowled out for 162 and losing the game by 31 runs.

In India's second innings as well, Virat Kohli was the highest scorer for the side with 51 runs. Despite his century in the first innings and a half-century later on, India failed to win the game. As mentioned by Varun, he was India's highest scorer in the match.
