Shimron Hetmyer hits tripod camera during RR training session ahead of IPL 2025 [Watch]

West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer has joined the Rajasthan Royals (RR) camp ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). The southpaw partook in some batting practice to gear up for the season.

The swashbuckling batter played hard-hitting shots, even hitting a tripod camera with a cover drive. On being asked about hitting the tripod in his first practice session of IPL 2025, here's what Hetmyer said:

"It's a good start to the season. That's what I think. That was a very good start to the season."

Sharing the video of the incident, the Rajasthan-based franchise wrote on their Instagram handle:

"Tripod be like, '𝘔𝘶𝘫𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘺𝘶 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢?' 😂🔥"

Rajasthan will take on SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their opening match of IPL 2025. The afternoon game is set to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on March 23.

Shimron Hetmyer was retained at ₹11 crore by RR ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. The franchise also retained Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sandeep Sharma.

The Sanju Samson-led side finished third in the points table after the league stage, claiming eight wins from their 14 outings. They beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by four wickets in the Eliminator.

However, they couldn't make it to the final as their campaign ended with a heartbreaking 36-run defeat to SRH in Qualifier 2. Hetmyer scored 113 runs across nine innings at a strike rate of 163.76.

Rajasthan roped in several notable names at the IPL 2025 auction. England speedster Jofra Archer was their most expensive signing at the event, with the franchise shelling out ₹12.5 crore for another stint with them.

The other players purchased by RR at the auction include the likes of Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Tushar Deshpande and Nitish Rana.

Samson would continue leading the team, while they also appointed former India and RR captain Rahul Dravid as their head coach on a multi-year contract.
