Boost Defenders locked horns with the Speen Ghar Tigers at the Kabul International in the third match of the 2024 Shpageeza Cricket League on Tuesday, August 13. Chasing a target of 167 runs, the Boost Defenders took down the Speen Ghar Tigers with ease, winning the first match of the day with seven wickets to spare.

Meanwhile, the fourth encounter of the season saw the Band-e-Amor Dragons beat the Amo Sharks with five wickets in hand.

Band-e- Amir Dragons, after their win over the Amo Sharks, cement the top spot on the 2024 Shpageeza cricket league points table. They have amassed a total of four points in two matches at a healthy net run rate of +0.633.

The Boost defenders are in second place with one win and two points next to their name. With a net run rate of +0.493, they kick off their campaign in style. Mis Ainak Knights round off the top three with a win, two crucial points, and a net run rate of +0.050.

The Amo Sharks and Speen Ghar Tigers languish at the bottom of the points table with zero points in the two games played so far. With net run rates of -0.177 and -0.718, they occupy the fourth and fifth places, respectively, at this stage of the competition.

Defenders chase down 167 to trump Tigers, Atal and Shahidi help Dragons win their second bout of the season

Boost Defenders skipper Rahmat Shah elected to field first in the first game of the day as Speen Ghar Tigers opener Imran (22 off 27) got his team off to a decent start. Further batting contributions from Ikram Alikhil (36 off 29), Samiullah Shinwari (43 off 25), and Ismat Alam (17 off 12) helped the Tigers post a competitive first-innings total of 166/7.

Alikhil and Shinwari shared a total of six boundaries and four maximums in between them, while Defenders’ mystery spinner Noor Ahmad scalped 4/16 in his four over Spell.

An all-round batting display meant that the Defenders clinched the third match of the 2024 Shpageeza Cricket League with seven wickets to spare as Mohammed Akram top-scored for them with his brilliant 37-ball 62.

Zubaid Akbari’s meticulous 49-ball 58 helped the Amo Sharks post 147/7 in 20 overs against the Band-e-Amir Dragons in the second encounter of the day. Akbari’s innings were laced with six boundaries and three maximums, while the Dragons’ bowlers AM Ghazanfar, Aftab Alam, Hasmatullah Shahidi, Amir Hamza, and N Kharote all took one wicket each.

The likes of Sediullah Atal (40 off 30), Hasmatullah Shahidi (57* off 48), and Sediqullah Pacha (25* off 17) ensured that the Band-e-Amir Dragons emerged triumphant with four balls and five wickets to spare in the fourth match of the season. Sharafuddin Ashraf and Qais Ahmed snared two wickets each for the Amo Sharks.
