Gujarat Titans players Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Mohit Sharma are reportedly set to be summoned by the Gujarat Crime Investigation Department (CID) in connection with ₹450 crore BZ Group Scam. The Gujarat-based company promised to pay investors a higher rate of interest than banks.

However, several investors filed complaints against the company after not receiving their interest. According to a report by Ahmedabad Mirror, the aforementioned GT players also invested their money in the Ponzi scheme. They will now be questioned by the CID in relation to the scheme.

The report suggests that Gill invested ₹1.95 crore, while the other players invested smaller amounts. With Gill currently in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), the CID will investigate the cricketers at a later date.

The bigwig of the BZ Group Scam Bhupendra Singh Jhala was arrested by the CID at a farmhouse in the Mehsana district of Gujarat last month. As per the Ahmedabad Mirror report, Jhala revealed during his investigation that he has yet to return the money invested by the GT cricketers.

Shubman Gill didn't find a place in India's playing XI for the recently concluded 4th BGT 2024-25 Test

Shubman Gill's Australia tour started off on a tough note as he sustained a finger injury ahead of the Test series opener in Perth. He missed the first Test but returned to the team for the subsequent pink ball Adelaide Test, where he registered scores of 31 and 28.

He failed to score big in the third Test as well, getting out for one in India's first innings at Brisbane. Gill was left out of the team in favor of spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar for the recently concluded fourth Test, which was held in Melbourne.

Australia took an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match series with their 184-run victory in Melbourne. It remains to be seen if Shubman Gill will be added to India's lineup for the upcoming fifth and final Test, beginning Friday, January 3, in Sydney.
