Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma drop in latest ICC T20I rankings

India’s Smriti Mandhana dropped one spot to fifth in the latest ICC T20I rankings for batters released on Tuesday, October 8. The downfall came as Mandhana failed to deliver in her first two games at the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup, scoring 12 and seven runs against New Zealand and Pakistan, respectively.

Like Mandhana, Australia skipper Alyssa Healy and Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu dropped one and three spots to eighth and ninth spots, respectively.

On the other hand, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt rose two spots to third place by scoring 101 runs in her first two innings. Her opening partner Tazmin Brits also surged two places to sixth.

Similarly, New Zealand opener Suzie Bates improved two spots to seventh in the top-10 table. Meanwhile, Aussie duo Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath retained their top two spots on the batters' T20I rankings.

Other positive movers in the list are Harmanpreet Kaur (up four rungs to 12) Danni Wyatt-Hodge (up two spots to 18th), Nida Dar (up three places to 37th), Sarah Bryce (up two spots to 41st), and Marizanne Kapp (up six places to 44th).


Deepti Sharma slips two spots in the latest ICC T20I bowling rankings

India’s Deepti Sharma also dropped two spots to fourth in the latest ICC T20I bowling rankings after managing a solitary wicket in her first two games at the Women’s T20 World Cup. The move saw Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal and England’s Sarah Glenn rising to second and third spots, respectively, in the top 3. Sophie Ecclestone consolidated her top spot in the bowling rankings.

Australia’s Megan Schutt made rapid strides to rise nine spots and break inside the top 10 after she finished with figures of 3/12 against Sri Lanka. Like Schutt, South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba jumped nine places to 13th after picking up five wickets in her two matches, including 4/29 versus West Indies.

Similarly, Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner rose three rungs to sixth, while Bangladesh’s Rabeya Khan soared one place to ninth.

Among all-rounders, New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr flipped her spot with Deepti Sharma, who dropped one place to fourth in the latest ICC T20I rankings. West Indies captain Hayley Matthews and Ashleigh Gardner retained their top two spots.
