Retired Australian opener David Warner has thrown a hilarious challenge to his fellow countryman Jake Fraser-McGurk by commenting on a video of Delhi Capitals' official Instagram handle. With the franchise uploading a video of the youngster bowling with a statement that he is always a sight to behold, Warner commented that he should now speak Hindi or Telugu.
Fraser-McGurk was roped in as Lungi Ngidi's replacement ahead of IPL 2024 and proved to be a worthy addition with his exploits throughout the season. The youngster mustered 330 runs in 9 matches with a best of 84 while maintaining a strike rate of 234.04. With Warner inconsistent in the competition, the Capitals played him at the top.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals' Instagram account posted a video of Fraser-McGurk bowling medium pace and captioned, 'No matter what JFM does, it is a sight to behold."
In response, Warner commented:
"Yep, speak Hindi or Telugu."
The Capitals then asked the 37-year-old if he can teach his younger compatriot.
Jake Fraser-McGurk likely to open for Australia in limited-overs cricket moving forward
With Warner passing the baton to the right-hander, who seems to be a clone of the former, the South Australian is likely to open the innings moving forward. The explosive opener has already played ODI cricket for Australia, making his debut against the West Indies earlier this year. He scored a 5-ball 10 in his first appearance and smashed 41 off 18 deliveries in his 2nd game, consisting of 5 fours and 3 sixes.
Australia's tour of Scotland and England in September is likely to see the youngster open the innings alongside Travis Head at the top. The Men in Yellow will start their tour with three ODIs against Scotland, followed by five 50-over matches and three more T20Is against England.
