A total of 18 matches were contested in Round 6 of the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Tuesday, December 3.

After completing these fixtures, Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, and Andhra have ascended to the top in their respective groups. They have been demonstrating outstanding performances as the tournament progresses.

Rajasthan suffered their first loss of the season earlier today, falling to Punjab after their decision to bat first backfired. Set a target of 161 runs, Punjab chased it down successfully, thanks to a brilliant top-order performance from Prabhsimran Singh, who scored 62 off 31 balls. He helped lead his team to a comfortable victory and their third win of the season.

Bengal extended their winning streak by defeating Bihar by nine wickets, successfully chasing down the target of 147 in just 14 overs. Karan Lal played a stunning knock of 94 off 47 balls, leaving Bihar helpless in their pursuit. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh triumphed in a thrilling contest against Hyderabad, securing a seven-run victory. Kumar Kartikeya and Kamal Tripathi were the stars with the ball, each picking up three wickets to help their team clinch the win.


Saurashtra and Gujarat clinched their fifth win of the season

Tamil Nadu were left clueless as their decision to bowl first proved costly. Saurashtra posted a formidable total of 235/5, with half-centuries from Harvik Desai (55 off 34), Ruchit Ahir (56 off 30), and Sammar Gajjar (55 off 27).

In response, Tamil Nadu could only manage 177/9, with Boopathi Kumar top-scoring with a knock of 65 off 44 balls. Chirag Jani was the standout bowler for Saurashtra, taking three crucial wickets for just 38 runs.

In the second game, Gujarat triumphed over Uttarakhand, thanks to a magnificent century by Urvil Patel, who scored 100 off just 41 deliveries. Despite Uttarakhand setting a competitive target, Urvil's explosive innings led Gujarat to chase down the target in just 13.1 overs. Additionally, Vishal Jayswal delivered a standout performance with the ball, taking four wickets in a superb spell for Gujarat.


Jharkhand defeated Delhi to gain the top position

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Delhi struggled to build partnerships, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Priyansh Arya top-scored with 38 off 22 balls but lacked support. He eventually fell when Anuj Rawat, who made 49 off 43 balls, was still at the crease, narrowly missing a half-century.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand made a strong start, with Utkarsh Singh leading the charge. Kumar Kushagra then played a match-winning knock of 55 off 30 balls, guiding Jharkhand to a five-wicket victory.

Uttar Pradesh were defeated by Jammu and Kashmir by six wickets in a match where they struggled to score runs. At 103/6, Shivam Mavi provided some late entertainment with a rapid 45 off 15 balls, lifting Uttar Pradesh to a total of 157/6. Murugan Ashwin was the standout bowler for Jammu and Kashmir, taking three wickets.

In response, Shubham Khajuria and Qamran Iqbal gave J&K a strong start, with Khajuria playing a brilliant knock of 85 off 59 balls to guide them to victory.


Vidarbha concludes their league campaign with a victory

Vidarbha finished at the top of the table with a 16-run victory over Chhattisgarh. With solid contributions from their batters, including Atharva Taide (34 off 27), Shubham Dubey (52 off 31), and Jitesh Sharma (38 off 14), Vidarbha posted a total of 206/5. Shashank Singh was the standout bowler for Chhattisgarh, claiming three wickets.

In response, Chhattisgarh got off to a promising start, with Anuj Tiwary scoring a valiant 98 off 59 balls, just two runs shy of a century. However, without adequate support from the other end, they fell short and lost the match. They were bowled out for 190, with Darshan Nalkande picking up three wickets.


Andhra continues their consecutive fifth winning streak

Andhra defeated Kerala by six wickets earlier in the day after Kerala were bowled out for a mere 87 runs. KV Sasikanth, Kodavandla Sudharsan, Satyanarayana Raju, and Bodhala Kumar were all instrumental with the ball, picking wickets at regular intervals to dismantle Kerala's batting lineup.

Andhra chased down the target in just 13 overs, with Srikar Bharat playing a match-winning knock of 56 off 33 balls. His performance earned him the Player of the Match (POTM) award.

Mumbai, currently in second position, defeated Services by 39 runs, posting a total of 192/4. The highlight of their innings was a 130-run partnership between Suryakumar Yadav (70 off 46) and Shivam Dube (71 off 36). In response, Services were bowled out for 153, with Shardul Thakur delivering a magical spell of 4/25, supported by Shams Mulani, who took 3/40.
