On December 11, four quarter-final matches were held in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024. Baroda, Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, Mumbai, and Vidarbha competed for a spot in the semi-finals.

In the opening match of the day, Baroda faced Bengal and emerged victorious by 41 runs. Bengal's decision to bowl first backfired as Baroda's batting attack put up a formidable total.

Shashwat Rawat and Abhimanyu Singh gave Baroda a strong start, sharing a 90-run opening partnership. Their efforts helped their side reach a total of 172/7. Shami, Kanishk Seth, and Pradipta Pramanik were the standout bowlers for Bengal, each claiming two wickets.

In reply, Bengal struggled to form meaningful partnerships, with Shahbaz Ahmed standing out as the lone performer. He scored a fighting 55 runs off 36 balls, but his efforts were not enough to guide Bengal to victory.

In the second quarter-final, Delhi triumphed over Uttar Pradesh by 19 runs while successfully defending a target of 193. Delhi's innings were built on solid contributions from Priyansh Arya (44 off 31), Yash Dhull (42 off 34), and Anuj Rawat (73 off 33). They guided the team to a total of 193/5.

In reply, Uttar Pradesh managed to reach 174 before being bowled out. Priyam Garg was their top scorer, making 54 off 34 balls. Delhi's bowling attack was well-balanced, with all six bowlers taking wickets and playing a key role in restricting Uttar Pradesh’s chase.

In the third quarter-final, Madhya Pradesh successfully chased down a target of 173 set by Saurashtra, winning the match with four balls and six wickets to spare. Saurashtra, batting first, struggled to build partnerships, with Chirag Jain being the standout performer, scoring 80 off 45 balls. However, no other batter managed to cross the 20-run mark, leaving the team with a modest total.

In response, Madhya Pradesh's strong batting lineup comfortably chased down the target. Arpit Gaud (42 off 29), Venkatesh Iyer (38 off 33), Rajat Patidar (28 off 18), and Harpreet Singh Bhatia (22 off 9) all contributed crucial knocks. They helped steer their team to victory and secure a place in the semi-finals.

The fourth quarter-final saw a thrilling contest between Mumbai and Vidarbha. Vidarbha, after being asked to bat first, posted a formidable total of 221/6. Atharva Taide played a key role, scoring 66 off 41 balls, while Apoorv Wankhede contributed 51 off 33. A quickfire knock from Shubham Dubey, who smashed 43 off 19 balls, further boosted their total.

Chasing such a high target, Mumbai's powerful batting lineup made light work of the chase, completing it with four balls to spare. Ajinkya Rahane led the charge with a brilliant 84 off 45 deliveries. Prithvi Shaw (49 off 26), Shivam Dube (37 off 22), and Suryansh Shedge (36 off 12) provided solid support.

Vidarbha had no answer to Mumbai's experienced batsmen, who unleashed an array of powerful strokes, taking their team to victory and a place in the semi-finals.
