The eighth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) kicks off on Friday, July 5 after seven successful seasons. The TNPL provides a great platform for the players in the state of Tamil Nadu to showcase their talent and grab the attention of the selectors.
A total of 32 matches will be played in TNPL 2024, which comprises four playoffs games. The league stage will be held from July 5 to 28. The knockout stages will be played from July 30 to August 4. The final is scheduled to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, August 4.
TNPL 2024 will be played across five cities, namely, Salem, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, and Chennai. The opening game will see the Lyca Kovai Kings, the defending champions, take on the Chepauk Super Gillies at the SCF Cricket Ground in Salem.
The Lyca Kovai Kings lifted the title last year by beating the Nellai Royal Kings comprehensively in the final. They won the game by 104 runs to lift their second title in a row. They will be hoping to defend their title in the upcoming edition of the TNPL.
Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024: When to watch?
The first nine games will be held in Salem before the action shifts to Coimbatore for the next eight games. The Tirunelveli leg begins on July 20 and it comprises six league fixtures.
Five league matches will be played in Dindigul which will be followed by two playoffs games. The last two fixtures of TNPL 2024 will be held in Chennai. The MA Chidambaram Stadium will play host to Quarter-Final 2 and Final on August 2 and August 4, respectively.
There will be a total of seven double-headers in TNPL 2024. The afternoon games will begin at 3:15 PM IST whereas the evening games will start at 7:15 PM IST. Rest of the days, the matches begin at 7:15 PM IST.
The opening match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 will be played on Friday, July 5. The Lyca Kovai Kings will square off against the Chepauk Super Gillies and it will begin at 7:15 PM IST in Salem.
