Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Devon Conway starred with the bat against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, May 20. The left-handed batter scored 87 runs off 52 balls at a strike rate of 167.31, including three sixes and 11 boundaries.
The New Zealand batter also shared a 141-run partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad for the opening wicket. He then shared a 54-run stand with Shivam Dube for the second wicket to put CSK in pole position in a must-win game ahead of playoffs.
Fans on Twitter were delighted with Devon Conway’s consistency with the bat but some lamented as he missed on his century. One user tweeted:

For the uninitiated, Conway has been one of the most consistent batters in IPL 2023. He has so far amassed 584 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 140.04, including six half-centuries, this season.
The 31-year-old was retained by the Super Kings for Rs 1 crore ahead of the IPL 2023 mini auction following his exploits with the bat during the IPL 2022 campaign. He scored 252 runs in seven games, including three half-centuries, last year.

A clinical batting performance from Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad helped Chennai Super Kings post 223/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Besides Conway, Gaikwad starred with the bat, scoring 79 off 50 deliveries at a strike rate of 158, including seven sixes and three fours.
Meanwhile, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 22 (9) and 20* (7), respectively. All of the aforementioned batters took all the Capitals bowlers to the cleaners during their power-packed show.
