Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his all-or-nothing trend in the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy with a second duck in three innings on Day 1 (December 6) of the second Test in Adelaide. The 22-year-old was trapped LBW off the first ball of the contest by a full delivery that angled in and swung late from Mitchell Starc.

For the uninitiated, Jaiswal was dismissed by Starc for an eight-ball duck in the first innings of the opening Test. However, he bounced back with a scintillating 161 in the second innings to set up India's massive 295-run victory.

During his knock, Jaiswal attacked with the bat and verbally by calling Starc 'too slow'.

Unfortunately for the youngster, the veteran pacer got his revenge right away, leading to fans on X slamming Jaiswal with the following reactions:

"The ball is coming too quickly... A perfect reply from Starc to Jaiswal," a fan wrote.

Fans continued their criticism of Jaiswal for his golden duck with one saying:

"Mitchell Starc dismissed Jaiswal even before the scorecard could be displayed."
"All that hype of "its coming slow" over the last 10 days this had to happen to make things even," tweeted a fan.
"The great Gavaskar has long said that "One always starts each innings on zero, despite what one may have scored in the previous innings". Likewise every session too. He used to take fresh guard after scoring 100 just to recalibrate and start afresh. Young Jaiswal will learn this," a fan said.

"He'll play a lot of cricket for India and be highly successful" - Mitchell Starc on Yashasvi Jaiswal

Mitchell Starc was effusive in his praise for Yashasvi Jaiswal in the build-up to the ongoing second Test at Adelaide.

The left-arm pacer touted the young Indian opener to have a long and successful career for India, hailing his fearless approach.

"He'll play a lot of cricket for India and be highly successful. Certainly played really, really well in that second innings. He adapted to conditions through that first Test. We got him cheaply in the first innings and he adpated to that and played a fantastic innings so full credit to him. He is one of those new crop of fearless young cricketers around the world," said Starc to Cricket.com.au.

Jaiswal is off to a spectacular start to his Test career despite a second duck in three innings to start the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The 22-year-old is the second fastest Indian batter to 1,000 Test runs, averaging 56 in 16 outings.
