Axar counted the South African bowlers with great aplomb, steering the ship out of choppy waters for India. Once set, the left-handed batter upped the ante. He missed out on a well-deserved half-century, getting run out on 47 off 31 balls.

India won the toss and chose to bat first in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. However, they were off to a disappointing start, with Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Suryakumar Yadav departing early.
Virat Kohli and Axar bailed India out of trouble, forming a crucial 72-run stand for the fourth wicket. While Axar was run out after scoring 47, Kohli finished with 76 runs to his name.
India ultimately registered 176/7 in 20 overs, courtesy of Kohli and Axar. Shivam Dube also chipped in with an important 27-run cameo. For South Africa, Anrich Nortje and Keshav Maharaj claimed two wickets apiece.
