Fans were impressed as Australian batting prodigy Sam Konstas starred with the bat on his debut against India on Day 1 (Thursday, December 26) of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. The right-handed batter scored 60 runs off 65 balls with the help of two maximums and six boundaries. The 19-year-old shared an 89-run partnership with Usman Khawaja for the first wicket.
What stood out the most was that Konstas ripped apart Jasprit Bumrah, scoring 34 runs off 33 balls, including two sixes and four fours, leaving everyone in awe.
Konstas replaced Nathan McSweeney on the back of his impressive first-class record. He has 718 runs in 11 FC matches, including two tons and three half-centuries.
Fans on X lauded Konstas for putting on a show with the bat on his debut. One user wrote:

“I’ve watched them (Bumrah’s bowling videos)” – When Sam Konstas opened up about his preparation for his Test debut
Sam Konstas recently opened up about his preparation for his debut against India and facing Jasprit Bumrah. He told the reporters (via The Times of India):
“Not really. I've watched them (Bumrah's bowling videos) quite a bit but just trying to be in the moment and yeah, hopefully I get the opportunity on Boxing Day. They're all very good bowlers. Obviously they're the best in the world but looking forward to the challenge and hopefully I'll get to experience that this week.”
After taking on Bumrah in the first session of Day 1, Konstas was adamant about dominating the ace India pacer. He said during the drinks break (via Fox Sports):
"I'll look to keep targeting him. Hopefully he might come back on."
Konstas seems to be a perfect replacement for Nathan McSweeney, who got out to Bumrah on four occasions, managing just 15 runs off 66 deliveries in the first three Tests of the five-match series.
