The Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 season continued on Saturday, July 27 with two matches at Dindigul’s NPR College Ground.
In the first match of the day, SKM Salem Spartans lost to table-toppers Lyca Kovai Kings owing to a blistering 18-ball half-century from winning captain M Shahrukh Khan. The Kovai Kings spinner Jhathavedh Subramanyan hogged the limelight with the ball as his figures of 2/16 restricted the Spartans to 171/4 upfront. Moreover, Subramanian also scored a decisive single in the final over to help his team seal a last-ball win with a wicket to spare.
In the evening game, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans charted 169/8 courtesy of a well-compiled half-century from middle-order batter Maan Bafna. S Ganesh also punched 39 crucial runs in the backend of the innings. Later in the game, the Tiruppur Tamizhans fast bowler T Natarajan and spinner Ajith Ram picked up three wickets each to restrict Trichy Grand Cholas within 47 runs short of their target.
TNPL 2024 Most Runs List
Tushar Rahega continues to remain the leading run-scorer of the TNPL 2024 season with 261 runs. B Indrajith is not too far behind, with 240 runs to his name from just six innings. Shivam Singh and R Sanjay Yadav occupy the third and fourth slots on the top 10 list with 226 runs each on their profile.
M Shahrukh Khan raced to 222 runs following his blistering fifty to be ranked as the fifth most successful batter of the competition so far. Waseem Ahmed (217 runs), KB Arun Karthik (215 runs), and Narayan Jagadeesan (210 runs) take the subsequent three slots on the batting standings following the events of July 27’s double-header.
Jafar Jamal’s 177-run tally places him at number nine while Balasubramaniam Sachin rounds up the top 10 charts with 169 runs at an astonishing average of 84.50.
TNPL 2024 Most Wickets List
M Poiyamozhi added four more wickets to his tally to move to 16 scalps from seven TNPL 2024 innings. Finding himself at the top of the wicket-taking list, he is followed by Athisayaraj Davidson with 13 wickets and T Natarajan with 12 wickets.
M Shahrukh Khan has also bagged 11 wickets so far in the season to be placed at number four. S Ajith Ram, with 10 wickets from seven innings, occupies the fifth slot on the top 10 bowling charts. Murugan Ashwin, P Saravana Kumar, Mohamed Ali and Mohammed Mohammed take the subsequent four slots in that order for collecting nine wickets each. K Easwaran burst into the top 10 following his latest wicket on July 27.
