"Top ODI prospect"- Fans react to Riyan Parag's impressive bowling performance in India vs Sri Lanka third ODI

All-rounder Riyan Parag had a productive day with the ball for India on his ODI debut in the third match of the ongoing series against Sri Lanka in Colombo. He conceded 54 runs in his nine overs and also picked up three wickets.

The Men in Blue needed someone to step up in the middle overs and Riyan proved to be the bowler Rohit Sharma could depend on for those wickets.

Fans on X (formerly) were delighted to see Riyan produce impressive figures with the ball. One user wrote:

Riyan Parag the pick of the bowlers as India restrict Sri Lanka to 248/7

Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando had given Sri Lanka a sensational start, adding 89 runs for the first wicket. Fernando then got the support of Kusal Mendis and the duo added another 82 runs for the next wicket. At 171/1, things were looking difficult for the Men in Blue.

However, Riyan stepped up and produced a brilliant delivery to trap Fernando in front and break the partnership. He also picked up the wickets of Charith Asalanka and Dunith Wellalage as the Men in Blue restricted Sri Lanka to 248/7.

India were bundled out for 208 in the previous game chasing 241 and with the pitch becoming abrasive, it will be interesting to see if they can chase the total down and avoid a series defeat.
