Uma Chetry replaces injured Yastika Bhatia in India’s squad for 3-match ODI series in Australia

Wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry has been named as a replacement for Yastika Bhatia in the Indian Women's team for the upcoming three-match one-day series in Australia. Yastika has been ruled out due to a wrist injury.

The Women in Blue will play three ODIs Down Under from December 5 to December 11. The first two matches will be played at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane. The third and final one-dayer will be held at the WACA Ground in Perth. The three-match ODI series is part of the ICC Women’s Championship.

On Wednesday, November 27, an official statement from the BCCI confirmed Chetry as Yastika's replacement for the one-day series in Australia.

"The BCCI Medical Team has confirmed that Ms. Yastika Bhatia has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Australia due to a wrist injury. Her recovery is being closely monitored. The All India Women’s Selection Committee has named Ms. Uma Chetry as Bhatia’s replacement in the squad," BCCI's statement read.

India will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur during the three-match series against Australia. Seniors like Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav and Renuka Singh Thakur are part of the squad. Opener Shafali Verma, however, has been dropped owing to her poor, while Priya Punia, Harleen Deol and Minnu Mani find a place.


Uma Chetry is yet to make her ODI debut for India

Chetry (22) is yet to play an ODI for India. The stumper made her T20I debut against South Africa in Chennai in July this year. In four matches, she has got a chance to bat only once in which she scored nine runs.
