On Thursday, December 26, 2024, the Vijay Hazare Trophy saw 18 matches take place at various venues across India. By the conclusion of Round 3, with a total of 54 games played, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Vidarbha, and Baroda emerged as the table-toppers in their respective groups.

Gujarat defeat Assam to top the table
Gujarat currently sit at the top of the points table with 12 points from three games, boasting a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 2.391. They are on a winning streak following their dominant eight-wicket victory over Assam, where Assam were dismissed for just 75 runs. Gujarat's captain, Chintan Gaja, played a pivotal role, taking five wickets for 27 runs.
In second place are Goa, with eight points, after a commanding 171-run victory over Manipur. Goa bounced back from a previous defeat to secure the win, successfully defending a target of 298. Siddarth was the standout performer, scoring 101 runs off 118 balls, supported by Vikash Singh, who made 95 runs off 77 balls. In response, Manipur were bowled out for a mere 127 runs, with Amulya Pandrekar delivering a stellar performance, taking five wickets for 20 runs.
Jharkhand occupy third place on the points table with eight points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.707, despite their loss to Haryana, who are in fourth position with the same points but a lower NRR of 0.126. Uttarakhand's losing streak continues, as they were defeated by Odisha by 75 runs. Uttarakhand currently have an NRR of 0.680, while Odisha's NRR stands at 0.293.
Assam, in seventh place, are also on the back foot following their eight-wicket defeat to Gujarat, with an NRR of -1.788. At the bottom of the table are Manipur, still searching for their first win, and struggling with a challenging NRR of -3.391.
Maharashtra continue their winning streak
Maharashtra lead the points table with 12 points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 2.977, following their dominant nine-wicket victory over Meghalaya. Meghalaya were restricted to just 113 runs, and Maharashtra chased down the target comfortably in 19.3 overs. Om Bhosale contributed with 46 runs off 45 balls, while Siddesh Veer top-scored with 57 runs off 66 balls, guiding Maharashtra to a comprehensive win.
Andhra occupy second place after their commanding eight-wicket victory over Sikkim, who were bowled out for a mere 119 runs. Andhra chased down the target in just 20.4 overs, maintaining an NRR of 1.534 after three matches.
Himachal Pradesh encountered their first defeat of the tournament, falling to Rajasthan after failing to defend a target of 286. Despite the setback, Himachal Pradesh hold eight points with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.452. Rajasthan’s successful chase was powered by a collective effort from Abhijeet Tomar (76 off 98), Mahipal Lomror (36 off 34), and Deepak Hooda (38 off 32), guiding the team to a narrow two-wicket victory.
Railways, meanwhile, secured back-to-back wins by defeating Services by seven wickets. Services were bowled out for 166, and Railways chased down the target in just 30 overs, elevating their NRR to 1.088. Sikkim and Meghalaya remain winless, still searching for their first victory in the tournament.
Mayank Agarwal guides Karnataka to victory with his century
Karnataka lead the points table with an unbeaten record, securing 12 points from three games and an NRR of 0.697. They successfully chased down Punjab’s target of 247, driven by Mayank Agarwal’s stellar knock of 103 off 90 balls.
Mumbai delivered a dominant performance, comfortably defeating Arunachal Pradesh, who were bowled out for just 73. Mumbai chased down the target in just 5.3 overs, with Angrish Raghuvanshi scoring a quickfire 50 off 18 balls. This emphatic win boosted Mumbai’s NRR to a remarkable 3.572. Saurashtra sit in fourth position with an NRR of 2.032 after defeating Hyderabad by six wickets. Harvik Desai anchored the chase with an 80-run innings off 91 deliveries.
Puducherry, having won two of their games, hold an NRR of -0.008 following a hard-fought three-wicket victory over Nagaland. Hyderabad, in sixth place, have four points and an NRR of -0.967. Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh are yet to register a win in the tournament.
Vidarbha win two in two
Vidarbha lead the table with eight points from two games and a commanding Net Run Rate (NRR) of 2.573. They secured a dominant eight-wicket victory over Chhattisgarh, who were bowled out for just 80 runs. Vidarbha comfortably chased down the target in 18 overs. Tamil Nadu registered an emphatic 114-run win over Uttar Pradesh, bundling them out for 170 during the run-chase.
Chandigarh recorded their first win of the tournament after three games, successfully chasing down a target of 169 against Mizoram. Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, with six points each from three games, sit further down the table with NRRs of 0.072 and -1.793, respectively.
Rain interrupts two games in Group E
Baroda lead the points table with two wins from two matches, holding a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.540. Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Tripura follow closely with six points each, with their respective NRRs at 1.162, 0.307, and -0.826. However, all their recent games ended in draws due to rain.
Delhi currently sit in fifth place after losing to Bihar by 17 runs via the VJD method. Bihar, in sixth, secured their first win of the tournament and hold an NRR of -1.026. Kerala remain at the bottom of the table with two points and an NRR of -1.240.
