Low-Scoring Thriller Unfolds in Group A
Gujarat extended their unbeaten streak in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, defeating Jharkhand by six wickets in a controlled run chase after restricting them to 199. Gujarat now boasts an impressive Net Run Rate (NRR) of 2.243 after four matches, solidifying their position at the top of the table.

Odisha, currently in fourth place, eased to a nine-wicket win over Manipur, comfortably chasing down a target of 100 runs. Odisha's victory bolstered their NRR to 1.105 as they continued to stay in contention for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Jharkhand, Goa, Assam, and Manipur occupy the lower half of the table with NRRs of 0.542, 0.004, -1.762, and -3.567 respectively, reflecting the challenges they face in the ongoing tournament.
Ankit Bawne and Siddhesh Veer power Maharashtra to victory
Maharashtra retained their position at the top of the table with a commanding 84-run victory over Haryana, posting a massive total of 360 runs. The win was powered by an exceptional 253-run partnership between Ankit Bawne (123 off 119) and Siddhesh Veer (156 off 119). In response, Vaibhav Arora delivered a brilliant spell, claiming five wickets for 43 runs. Despite a strong start, Haryana’s batting faltered as wickets fell consistently, resulting in them being bowled out for 276.
Andhra cruised to a dominant 10-wicket win over Services, chasing down the target of 162 with ease. Srikar Bharat (86 off 90) and Ashwin Hebbar (66 off 83) guided the chase, sealing the victory in just 28.4 overs and boosting Andhra's Net Run Rate (NRR) to 1.766.
Railways, currently third in the standings, defeated Sikkim by five wickets, thanks to Ashutosh Sharma's blistering 75 off 27 balls, which enabled them to chase the target of 198 in just 32.5 overs. Railways now hold an NRR of 1.249 with 12 points from four games. Rajasthan secured a six-wicket win over Meghalaya, improving their NRR to 0.492 with 12 points.
Rajasthan’s bowlers restricted Meghalaya to 166, and the target was comfortably chased in 32.4 overs, with Deepak Hooda (60 off 71) anchoring the innings. At the bottom of the table, Himachal Pradesh, Services, Sikkim, and Meghalaya remain winless. Their NRRs stand at 0.667, -1.65, -2.313, and -2.722 respectively.
Mayank Agarwal scores back-to-back hundred for Karnataka
Karnataka continued their dominant run at the top of the table with a resounding 10-wicket victory over Arunachal Pradesh. Abhinav Manohar (66* off 41) and Mayank Agarwal (100* off 45) showcased explosive batting, chasing down the target of 166 in just 14.2 overs, significantly boosting their Net Run Rate (NRR) to 1.809.
Punjab, holding the second spot with 12 points and an impressive NRR of 2.497, secured a convincing win over Mumbai in a successful run chase. Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball, delivering a crucial spell of 5 for 38, restricting Mumbai to 248. In response, Prabhsimran Singh played a sensational knock, remaining unbeaten with 150* off 101 deliveries, leading Punjab to victory in just 29 overs. His effort was complemented by Abhishek Sharma’s quickfire 66 off 54 balls, sealing the win dominantly.
Saurashtra secured a 45-run victory over Nagaland, posting an impressive total of 307 runs. With this win, Saurashtra now holds 12 points and an NRR of 1.720, solidifying their position among the top contenders. Despite their loss to Punjab, Mumbai remains in a strong position, sitting comfortably in fourth place with eight points and an NRR of 1.757.
Hyderabad edged past Puducherry by four wickets in a low-scoring encounter. Puducherry was restricted to 98, but Hyderabad faced some resistance during the chase, eventually sealing the win in 20 overs. Hyderabad’s NRR now stands at 0.163, while Puducherry's drops to -0.815. Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh remain winless in the tournament. Their struggles are reflected in their NRRs of -1.080 and -10.302, leaving them at the bottom of the standings as they search for their first victory.
Tamil Nadu seals big against Jammu and Kashmir
Vidarbha maintained their position at the top of the table with a remarkable victory over Chandigarh, successfully chasing a challenging target of 315. Chandigarh’s innings was powered by key contributions from Manan Vohra (101 off 117), Amrit Lubana (58 off 35), and Ankit Kaushik (59 off 39). However, Karun Nair's sensational 163 off 107 deliveries led Vidarbha to victory in 48 overs, leaving Chandigarh stunned. Vidarbha now boasts an NRR of 1.942, reinforcing their dominance in the tournament.
Tamil Nadu continued their impressive form, securing a commanding 191-run win over Jammu & Kashmir. N Jagadeesan (165 off 147) spearheaded Tamil Nadu’s batting, guiding them to a formidable total of 353. In response, Jammu & Kashmir were dismissed for 162, with CV Achyuth delivering an extraordinary performance, claiming six wickets to dismantle the opposition. Tamil Nadu’s emphatic win further solidifies their reputation as one of the strongest teams in the competition.
Uttar Pradesh secured a 32-run victory over Chhattisgarh, bringing their tally to 10 points from four games with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.339. Chhattisgarh, following the defeat, now holds an NRR of -1.373. Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) and Mizoram continue to search for their first win of the tournament. J&K’s NRR stands at -2.801, while Mizoram’s struggles persist with an NRR of -3.016, leaving both teams at the bottom.
Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, and Delhi win in Group E
Madhya Pradesh remains at the top of the points table in Group E, securing an eight-wicket victory over Tripura. With this win, Madhya Pradesh now has 10 points and an impressive Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.659. Bengal, in second place, triumphed over Baroda by seven wickets and also holds 10 points, with a NRR of 0.953. Despite the loss, Baroda maintains their position in third due to a positive NRR of 0.765.
Delhi defeated Kerala by 29 runs, and while they have two wins from four games, they sit comfortably with six points and an NRR of 0.280. On the other hand, Kerala remains at the bottom of the table, still without a win, and their NRR stands at -1.574. Tripura, despite having six points, suffered a defeat at the hands of Madhya Pradesh, leaving them with an NRR of -1.732. Bihar, with four points from three games, holds an NRR of -1.026, while Kerala, with just two points from three games, continues to struggle at the bottom.
