"Virat Kohli nicking to slips better love story than twilight" - Fans slam batter for edging one outside off again in 5th BGT 2024-25 Test

Ace Team India batter Virat Kohli once again nicked one to slip to get out of Scott Boland after doing all the hard work of getting his eyes in. The incident happened in the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (2024-25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Kohli has been under the pump for not living up to the expectations in this series. Barring the unbeaten century in the second innings of the Perth Test, the right-handed batter has struggled to get going. He has been trapped again and again with the fifth stump line.

It came back to haunt him again on Friday when he poked at an away delivery from Boland only debutant Beau Webster to grab an excellent catch at slips. It was a back-of-a-length delivery from Boland and Kohli tried to jab at it, only to find an edge. It went to the left of Webster at third slip, who did well to grab the catch. He scored 17 off 69 deliveries as his rough patch with the bat continued.

Virat Kohli has been dismissed seven times so far in the series, all because of the batter nicking an outside-the-off-stump delivery. Fans were disappointed with the repetitive mode of dismissal and slammed the batter for not finding a way out of it.

"Why can't he bring that discipline onto the field" - Irfan Pathan on Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has been troubled by fifth stump deliveries for a long time. Every bowler has tried to trap him with that line and Kohli has fallen prey to it most of the time and this series has been no different.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan questioned Kohli for not bringing discipline to his game. The comments came after he failed in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

"The shot by Virat Kohli - this is neither the first nor the last time. He is not letting go of the temptation to drive outside the off-stump," Pathan said on Star Sports via TOI.

"We all talk about his discipline - why can't he bring that discipline onto the field?" he added.
