Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli produced a sensational knock of 47 from 29 deliveries in the side's league-stage finale against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Bengaluru on May 18. With RCB facing a must-win to garner playoff hopes, Kohli overcame a pitch that started turning square after a rain break after three overs.

Kohli smashed three boundaries and four maximums in his well-constructed innings to propel RCB to a solid start of 78/1 in the 10th over. Kohli finished the league stages with 708 runs at an average of 64.36 and a strike rate of over 155 in 14 games.

It was his 6th 50+ score in a terrific season that also included a century against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

The RCB batters meant business from the word go in their must-win encounter against CSK in front of a packed house at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis started strong, adding 78 for the opening wicket, before the former's dismissal. However, skipper Faf continued in his merry way, bringing up a skillful half-century off 35 deliveries.

Unfortunately, he was dismissed through a run-out at the non-strikers' end off a straight hit by Rajat Patidar. Faf fell for 54 off 39 after setting up the ideal platform for RCB to launch at 113/2 in 13 overs.

Patidar and Cameron Green continued the momentum, taking RCB to a strong position of 150/2 in the 16th overs.

A win for CSK gets them through as the final team to the playoffs, while RCB will have to win by an 18-run margin to qualify for the playoffs.
