As the one-off Test between Zimbabwe and Ireland in Belfast was heading towards a tense climax, a rare moment occurred with the batters completing five runs without an overthrow being involved. Chasing 158 for a famous win, Ireland were 74/5 in the 18th over on the first session of Day 4.

The five-run moment happened in the second ball of the over when Andy McBrine cover drove a good length delivery from Richard Ngarava. Tendai Chatara gave chase to the boundary and just pulled the ball back into the field of play.

However, the momentum of his chase meant he had to jump over the boundary hoarding to avoid a collision. In the meantime, the two Irish batters ran five runs, leaving the successful chase from Chatara in vain and costing Zimbabwe an extra run.

Here is the video of the same:

The ongoing clash is only Ireland's ninth in Test cricket and their first in the red-ball format against Zimbabwe.

After losing their first seven Tests, Ireland won their most recent outing against Afghanistan by six wickets earlier this year.

Ireland pull off famous win in an instant classic against Zimbabwe

Ireland pulled off a stunning four-wicket in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, with the game seesawing from ball one on the opening day.

After Ireland skipper Andy Balbirnie won the toss and elected to field first, the bowlers justified his decision by dismissing Zimbabwe for 210 in their first innings. Ireland responded with a 71-run opening partnership before a collapse saw them reduced from 71/0 to 203/9.

A crucial 47-run final-wicket partnership saw them overtake Zimbabwe's total and capture a 40-run first-innings lead. The African side rolled to 134/3 in their second innings before enduring a collapse to be bundled out for a paltry 197.

It meant the Irish were left to chase 158 for a memorable win. However, a horrific end to day 3 saw them reduced to a dismal 33/5 at stumps, requiring a further 125 for victory.

Yet, never one to fold, the Ireland batters have batted with tremendous resolve thus far on Day 4 to reach within touching distance of victory. Half-centuries from wicket-keeper Lorcan Tucker and all-rounder Andy McBrine took Ireland from 21/5 to a comfortable 117/5 till the former was dismissed.

Nevertheless, Ireland ensured no further hiccups and completed the run-chase in the 37th over with four wickets in hand.
